AVIOS is announcing the third annual student application contest. Students of Speech Technology enrolled in colleges or universities worldwide are encouraged to participate in this year’s contest by registering to participate by November, 2008 and submitting applications to our judges by January, 2009.
Applications must involve speech input and/or output, and may be either pure speech or multimodal. Cash and/or equipment prizes valued at over $1000 will be awarded to teams of student programmers who design and create applications judged to be robust, useful, creative, innovative, and user friendly. Winners will be announced at the Voice Search Conference in San Diego on March 2, 2009.
Teams may choose to implement applications using any of the following five platforms.
- Multimodal: XHTML plus VoiceXML on Opera — Getting Started
- Voice-only: VoiceXML using Voxeo Prophecy — Getting Started
- Desktop: Microsoft SAPI 5.3 in Windows Vista — Getting Started
- Mobile: Vlingo on Blackberry — Getting Started
